Here's a list of our clinics, opening hours and referral procedures.

Clinical Neuroimmunology service

Clinical Neuroimmunology Service is run by Professor Russell Dale who sees patients with autoimmune demyelination, autoimmune encephalitis, autoimmune movement and psychiatric disorders.

  • When: Thursdays 9am - 1pm
  • Where: Outpatients Department, Level 2, The Children's Hospital at Westmead
  • Referrals: Please fax your referral (02) 9845 3389 and address it to Prof Russell Dale.

Neurogenetics clinic

The Neurogenetics Clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic specialising in the diagnosis and medical management of genetic neuromuscular conditions, neurofibromatosis and other neurogenetic conditions.

  • When: Every Wednesday 2 - 5pm
  • Where: Children’s Assessment Centre, Level 3, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead
  • Referrals: This clinic is run from a tertiary facility, so initial referrals need to be made by a Paediatrician or Paediatric Specialist. To make an appointment email your referral, alternatively, you can fax your referral (02) 9845 3095.

Neuromuscular management clinic

The Neuromuscular Management Clinic (NMMC) addresses the physical needs of our neuromuscular patients. These clinics are led by a Rehabilitation Specialist, with a Neurogenetics Fellow, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Neuromuscular Social Worker and Genetic Counsellor.

  • When: Once a month on a Wednesday 2 - 5pm
  • Where: Occupational Therapy Department – book in at the Children’s Assessment Centre on Level 3 of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead
  • Referrals: We refer patients to this service when the Consultant Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapists feel they require more comprehensive rehabilitation and allied health involvement.

Movement Disorders clinic

Professor Russell Dale sees patients with movement disorders at this clinic. Movement Disorders in children typically involve unwanted and involuntary extra and purposeless movements that affect the ability to perform normal daily functions, fine motor activities and walk. The most common movement disorders are tics and Tourette Syndrome which affects about 1 in 200 children.

  • When: Once a month on a Thursday 10am - 2pm
  • Where: Outpatients Department, Level 2, The Children's Hospital at Westmead
  • Referrals: Please fax your referral (02) 9845 3389 and address it to Prof Russell Dale.

Peripheral neuropathy management clinic

The Peripheral Neuropathy Management Clinic (PNMC) is a tertiary referral clinic for children (<16 years of age) with inherited neuropathy (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease). This multidisciplinary clinic occurs monthly and is run by a Neurologist which has a Rehabilitation Paediatrician, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Podiatrist and Clinic Coordinator in attendance.

  • When: Once a month on a Thursday 9am - 5pm
  • Where: Occupational Therapy Department, Level 2, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead
  • Referrals: Initial referrals need to be made by a Paediatric Neurologist. Ongoing referrals (after initial review in the PNMC) can be made by a Local GP. You can fax your referral (02) 9845 3095.

Steroid clinic

The Steroid Clinic (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) Monitoring Clinic) is where we monitor the boys with DMD who are on steroid treatment. At these clinics, the Neurogenetics Fellow will weigh, measure and monitor the boys and ensure other specialist care is up-to-date.

  • When: Every month on Friday 10am - noon
  • Where: Children’s Assessment Centre, Level 3, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead
